Hurricane Helene’s surge reached 7.18 feet at Tampa on September 26, 2024, and up to eight feet in downtown Gulfport. Two weeks later, Hurricane Milton dropped about 19 inches of rain on St. Petersburg, including more than five inches in a single hour.
In Hillsborough and Pinellas together, at least 419 homes were destroyed and more than 18,500 structures had major damage. On the barrier islands, many owners had to decide whether to gut, demolish or elevate under FEMA’s 50% substantial-damage rule, and every path involves hauling.

Why City Pickup Doesn’t Cover This
The City of Tampa’s SWEEP program specifically excludes building materials, and St. Petersburg’s free special pickup is limited to three cubic yards of furniture, carpet and appliances. Remodel and gut-out debris needs a private hauler in most of the metro.

Do you take wet drywall and carpet?
Yes. Carpet is $71 per room on its own; mixed gut-out debris goes by truck-fill, from $241 for a quarter truck.
Can you clear a house before the contractor starts?
Yes. We remove furniture and contents first so the crew can get straight to tear-out, then come back for the debris if you want.
Can you send photos for my insurance adjuster?
The photos you take for the quote document the damage before pickup, and the crew sends you photos of the cleared rooms afterward. Both are yours to share with your adjuster.
Does the City of Tampa pick up construction debris?
Not through SWEEP — building materials are on its excluded list.
How is concrete priced?
Concrete and masonry are heavy enough to price per quarter truck, at $219.
Do you work on the barrier islands?
Yes — St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Madeira and the rest of the Pinellas beaches are in the service area.
Is a dumpster better for my project?
For a gut job spanning weeks, a roll-off can make sense. For a one-day clear-out, or where a dumpster won’t fit, we’re usually simpler. Send photos and we’ll say which fits.
